This book cover was designed for the novel American Gods by Neil Gaiman. The carousel graphic was first created to represent one of the more notable scenes from the novel. The color inversion of the graphic was added to represent the transportation nature of the carousel, as well as the darkly mysterious tone of the book. The tree was added to the back of the book in order to create a strong imagery related to the source material that would draw the viewer’s eye, similar to the intention of the front cover.
